About the Visionary!
"There's nothing more rewarding, than serving God, by doing what you love!"
That guiding truth has been the heartbeat of Sonya Brent-Blakeley’s journey as a creative force, spiritual vessel, and artistic visionary.

For over 20 years, Sonya has inspired audiences through her God-given gifts of writing, directing, producing, choreographing, and ministering through the arts. Her work is rooted in faith, purpose, and the belief that storytelling can heal, uplift, and transform.
She is the founder of Inspired Arts Ministry—a platform through which she has written and directed a dynamic portfolio of stage plays, including A Time to Change, Out of Order, Out of Order, Too, The Devil is a Liar, and the beloved gospel remix of The Wiz titled No Place Like Home. Her work has touched hearts across churches, theaters, schools, and community centers, with a consistent theme: God’s love in motion.

In recent years, Sonya has stepped further into filmmaking. Her debut screenplay, The Writer’s Block, was featured in three film festivals, establishing her as a bold new voice in faith-based cinema. She has continued that momentum with her co-directing role on the 2024 stage play Behind Closed Doors, and as director of the powerful webisode-turned-movie, Can You Hear Me Now?

She is also the visionary behind the dramatic performance series WomanUp and ManUp Monologues, shining a spotlight on real-life struggles and triumphs. WomanUp was nominated for Best Stage Play at the Ohio Entertainment Awards in 2017. It was turned into a book in 2019, adding to her titles as an author.

Sonya’s love for the arts began with dance. Through worship movement, she’s launched dance ministries, taught workshops, and choreographed for major events like Cleveland PraiseFest. Her workshop series, Heart of Worship, has helped artists reclaim the purpose and power of worship in creative expression.

Her creativity also extends to producing commercials, music videos, and promotional media for small businesses and artists. Every project is rooted in her unwavering faith and her calling to minister through the arts.

Above all, Sonya considers her greatest ministry to be her family. She is a wife, mother of three, and proud grandmother, and credits her family’s love and support as the wind beneath her wings.
